Add Tax Rates to Categories
There are two different methods you can use to track tax for your products or services. The first way is Category Tax, and the second way is Product Tax. We recommend using Category Tax to save yourself manual work when it comes to applying a blanket tax to many products at one time.
For example, let's say that you use Revision Skin Care. You've created the category for Revision, now you want to apply a 7% tax to everything that falls under that category. You'll need to add that tax rate to the cateogry. Follow the steps below to do so:
Login via web
Go to inventory
Click on Manage Categories
Choose Edit next to the category
Toggle on the tax rate
Enter in your tax
Save it
Now, anytime you checkout, the tax rate set to this category will funnel down to any products that you've associated here.
Adding tax to singular products should only be used if you have one off products inside of a category that require tax. Otherwise, you should use the preferred method above.
